Bound by Fiction

Bound by Fiction is an interactive installation that invites viewers to step into the role of storyteller. The scene, constructed with anonymous plastic figures within a wire-frame environment, presents no clear narrative, only a frozen moment, open to interpretation.

Audiences were asked to write down what they believed was happening, projecting their own assumptions, biases, and personal experiences onto the characters. In doing so, each participant unknowingly revealed more about themselves than about the scene itself.

The work was inspired by a personal experience, an imagined narrative I once created about my neighbours, based solely on the sounds I heard through the walls. That experience made me question how easily we fill in gaps with fiction, often unknowingly. Bound by Fiction explores how we construct meaning in the absence of context and highlights the fragile, often flawed, nature of our interpretations.
